Apple tree planting by GELEBTE NACHBARSCHAFT, Sachsenlotto and the Chemnitz Zwickau Student Union

Committed people from Chemnitz and the region will be planting apple trees and fruit trees on the grounds of the Studentenwerk Chemnitz-Zwickau on Wednesday, 23 October.

The GELEBTE NACHBARSCHAFT project realises orchards and snack gardens. Delicious fruit for everyone is the aim of the project, which is realised and lived by many different people working together in partnerships. The participants contribute to a climate-friendly Chemnitz, learn from each other and celebrate the diverse culinary culture surrounding apples and other fruits.

GELEBTE NACHBARSCHAFT is a main project of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, focussing on sustainability and a green city. Joint planting campaigns bring neighbourhoods in Chemnitz and the Capital of Culture region closer together. The participatory project is flanked by suitable educational programmes and artistic activities.
