As a grand finale to the three-day opening of the Purple Path, photographer and musician Till Brönner invites bassist Dieter Ilg and drummer Günter "Baby" Sommer, who lives in Dresden. Sommer is now 81 years old and belongs to the first generation of free jazz musicians in the GDR and in Europe. With his band "Zentralquartett", the Saxon legend was able to play concerts in West Germany even before the fall of the Berlin Wall, and Dieter Ilg is one of the most influential voices in European jazz. He has received three Echo awards and released the highly acclaimed album "Night Fall" with Brönner in 2018.
Special thanks go to the Friends of the European Cultural Region Chemnitz 2025 for their generous support of the concert.
This project is cofinanced by tax funds on the basis of the parliamentary budget of the state of Saxony and by federal funds from the Beauftragte der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien (Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media), as well as funds from the City of Chemnitz.
