C the Unseen - Office building TODAY - and THEN?

The grandchildren and great-grandchildren would like to report on the determination and diligence of the founder Moritz Lippmann (1874-1961) and his children and show how a life's work created under hardship was lost through envy and abuse of power. An exhibition in two shop windows of the house he built at Mühlenstraße 34/36 today uses photos and texts to commemorate the construction of this six-storey furniture store in 1932 and finally its expropriation in 1953. As there is no longer any reference to it and the original use of the building, this hidden history of the town is to be told and visualised. In this way, local identity can be strengthened and encourage people to come to terms with the social conditions and historical upheavals of the past decades in Chemnitz.

It is thanks to the city administration, the monument preservation authorities and, above all, the courage of an investor and current owner that the current office building, with its modern furnishings, is home to many institutions and continues to fit in well with the ensemble opposite the municipal swimming pool.
