On the occasion of the Tango Argentino Chemnitz 2025 festival, the Sächsische Mozart-Gesellschaft e.V. is organising a danced tour of the city. The dancers and musicians will be accompanied by tour guide Edeltraud Höfer, who will lead them through the city in the footsteps of the concertina, which was invented in Chemnitz. The tour starts at the Petrified Forest in the DAStietz cultural department stores', leads past the Kulturhauptstadtsparkasse, St Jakobikirche and the market square, where Weigel's house once stood and where the new instrument was first offered for sale. After a stop at the Red Tower and the Karl Marx Monument, the tour pauses at the place where Carl Friedrich Uhlig invented and manufactured the "Accordion nach neuer Art", later known as the Concertina, in his workshop. The dancers and musicians end their tour of the city against the backdrop of the opera house on Theatre Square.
