This year we are trying out something special: We are developing new ideas using the Social Hackathon method. This involves projects from Chemnitz and eastern Germany that not only strengthen the local economy. They should also be sustainable and make a difference in Europe and the world. This is one of the highlights in Chemnitz's year as European Capital of Culture 2025.
Our motto is: "Creative start, sustainable impact".
We are looking for solutions to important social issues. These include, for example, equal opportunities for all and why people should stay in the region. We work on creative solutions in small teams and present the results at the end. The best ideas are honoured.
The aim is to strengthen the creative and sustainable maker spirit in the region and make it known in Europe and the world. Together we work on ideas with a future. The best idea will be supported by a place in our scholarship programme so that it can be implemented.
What you can expect:
- Ideas speed dating: Get to know lots of exciting projects quickly and exchange ideas - it's very straightforward!
- Garage moments: Founders and entrepreneurs tell you about their best success stories.
- Founder stands: Scholarship holders present their start-up ideas here.
- Children's garage: Even the little ones get their money's worth! With popcorn, soap bubbles, face painting, tattoos, glitter and colouring, there's plenty of fun to be had. There is also an area for breastfeeding and nappy changing.
