The Dutch design collective Redfort has redesigned traditional craftsmanship for the 21st century. At a height of four metres, a translucent mesh made of white powder-coated steel wire stretches across four panels, reminiscent of the artistic bobbin lace from the Erzgebirge. On the one hand, the work tells the story of the 16th century mining entrepreneur Barbara Uthmann, who brought lace-making to the Erzgebirge and thus put hundreds of women to work. On the other hand, the title Braided Journey refers to the location of the future Smart Rail Connectivity Campus (SRCC).
