BUND Chemnitz inaugurates the first of two sustainable bicycle stands together with Subbotnik e.V. The bike racks are to be planted and maintained by volunteers on the grounds of the socio-cultural centre

As part of the Capital of Culture 2025 funding programme, BUND Chemnitz has commissioned the construction of sustainable bike racks as a micro-project. The nature conservation organisation worked together with artists Teo Richter and Jiří Bartoš to build sustainable bike racks in Chemnitz and its partner city Usti nad Labem.

With their "Green Bicycle Stand", the artists have created an abstract ship shape that will be planted with plants and equipped with both an insect hotel and a bird bath in spring. "The ship shape is a passion of mine from my early seafaring days."
