At the end of the workshop, a sound installation will be exhibited together and the self-built instruments will be demonstrated. Electronics can seem technical and complicated at first. Through simple instructions and concrete, playful results, the children are introduced to the world of DIY electronic music. Together they will build contact microphones, convert light into sound and make any surface vibrate. They will also learn that some components from old toys or broken devices can be reused to produce creative new ideas or conserve resources.

The workshop is an open workshop space. Different projects are offered each day. Participants can take part on all three days or join in during the course of the workshop - depending on how intensively they want to work on the projects.

Here are the aspects that will be tackled together in the workshop:

- First basic rules of safety with electronics

- Understanding electronic circuits (or not :) and building them

- Giving instruments a shape

- Amplifying sounds and making Augustusburg resonate

The workshop will be led by Laure Boer. The Berlin-based musician and sound artist is inspired by electronic and traditional folk music. Her performances are hypnotic improvisations around traditional instruments, strange percussions and occasionally French lyrics; a pulsating universe that is both vulnerable and brutal. Suitable for ages 8 and up.
