The Knappteich pond in Chemnitz's Yorck district really is an insider tip - a green oasis hidden between residential buildings, allotments and a Montessori secondary school.
The city excursions organised by the Kulturkirche invite you to discover the unseen wonders and hidden beauties of Chemnitz - in the form of buildings, squares, paths, special places and sometimes even people. If you look closely, you will discover such hidden gems on every corner. We also welcome spontaneous travellers. Perhaps you yourself know a corner of our city that is unknown and yet is worth seeing, either as a place of learning or as a challenge to us. Then why not offer an excursion too, nothing is insignificant.
The "Unser Knappteich" initiative is dedicated to the maintenance and preservation of the district pond. The associated community garden project is a meeting place, experimental space and educational centre all in one. Discover this gem in the heart of the Yorck neighbourhood together with those responsible for the project!
