Bismuth's uranium was essential for the nuclear age, which dawned in 1945 with the dropping of the first two atomic bombs on Japanese cities. Hopes of unlimited energy and eternal peace were kindled. On the other side, people feared the destruction of the planet. Artists and intellectuals have been grappling with these poles for 80 years. Follow the speaker on his quantum leaps through pop culture and meet Godzilla, the Digedags and Homer Simpson.
