The Chemnitz 2025 project "Rummelplatz" is creating a contemporary opera in Chemnitz, based on Werner Bräunig's social novel of the same name. Interim results from the work of the "Rummelplatz" writing workshop will be presented at tietz: since April 2024, people from Chemnitz and the surrounding area have been working on literary texts that could represent the character of the city and region to a certain extent. Under the guidance of Arna Aley, they meet once a month at Tietz. In a reading, they present an interim status of the writing process and report on the workshops in discussions.

Fairground

Theater Chemnitz is developing the multi-part project Rummelplatz. The starting point is Werner Bräunig's novel of the same name, which Ludger Vollmer (composition) and Jenny Erpenbeck (libretto) are adapting as a work of music theatre for the stage. The world premiere of the work is planned for autumn 2025. It will be about how people relate to social conditions, the political system and the thoughts and moods of their time. The project is part of the main programme of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025.
