In their books, the authors Heike Geißler (Saisonarbeit, 2016) and Natalia Fiedorczuk (Jak pokochać centra handlowe, 2014) address precarious employment relationships
Employment relationships. While Natalia Fiedorczuk paints a straightforward literary portrait of young female employees who, due to the nature of their employment contracts (Polish: śmieciówki, "rubbish contracts"), are not entitled to any financial security, even during pregnancy, Heike Geißler describes the working conditions in an Amazon logistics centre in Leipzig, where she worked temporarily as a temp, in her fictionalised account of her experiences. In their texts, the authors address the effects of capitalism on the labour market and the changes in the world of work. At the same time, they question our consumer behaviour and expectations of a life of prosperity.
