The museum reopens after 5 years of refurbishment. The completely new, multimedia and interactive exhibition can be seen for the first time. The exhibition mine has been upgraded, the winding tower is now accessible again after many years and Saxony's largest steam engine is on display. The opening event is rounded off by an accompanying programme with a final "Glück-auf-Leuchten" performance by the Oelsnitz Mining Music Corps.
This project is cofinanced by tax funds on the basis of the parliamentary budget of the state of Saxony and by federal funds from the Beauftragte der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien (Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media), as well as funds from the City of Chemnitz.
