Greed and passion shape the history of mining. Greed for ores that has driven us  into the mountains for thousands of years. Wealth and power, but also the exploitation of nature and people, are its consequences. We feel passion because mining has merged with life, society and culture of the Chemnitz region. Mining is the driving force for inventions, the starting point of science, identity and traditions.

Go underground! The guided tour through the exhibition "Treasures & Tragedies" reveals the dark secrets of the miners from the Bronze Age to the 21st century.
