Tree planting campaign in the Rödelwald forest

As part of the Capital of Culture project GELEBTE NACHBARSCHAFT, the City of Chemnitz Parks Department and the Klaffenbach local council are inviting people to a planting campaign in the Rödelwald forest. Former spruce areas that have died due to drought and bark beetle infestation are to be planted with relatively small (bare-rooted) forest plants (sessile oak, hornbeam, winter lime, mountain elm, bird cherry, etc.).

The planting will take place in cooperation with the main Living Neighbourhood project.

GELEBTE NACHBARSCHAFT is a main project of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, focussing on sustainability and a green city. Joint planting campaigns bring neighbourhoods in Chemnitz and the Capital of Culture region closer together. The participatory project is flanked by suitable educational programmes and artistic activities.
