Tired of the silence in the family and the gaps, a puppeteer delves into the biography of her grandfather: before the violent annexation of the Sudeten German territories by the German Reich in 1938, he lived a privileged life as a popular district doctor near Reichenberg, now Liberec. During the Second World War and the Holocaust, his career as an "epidemic specialist" took him to Lemberg (Polish: Lwów, Ukrainian: Lwiw), the then capital of Galician Jewish life. After the end of the war, he was arrested, put on trial and lost his homeland. - The production uses biographical, documentary material and is dedicated to the murderous German history and its after-effects in the families of the victims and perpetrators from a family history perspective.

Versuch über meinen Großvater is part of the tetralogy Inside Outside Europe and will run as a single evening at the Figurentheater Chemnitz from 17 April 2025.
