The open-air museum focuses on the woodworking trades of the Ore Mountains as well as the workshops, machines and technologies of Ore Mountain toy production. One of the centres is the tyre lathe from 1760, which has been preserved in situ.
The PURPLE PATH art and sculpture trail presents permanent contemporary sculptures in public spaces and tells stories from Chemnitz and 38 communities in the region. Works by more than 60 artists are on display.
This project is cofinanced by tax funds on the basis of the parliamentary budget of the state of Saxony and by federal funds from the Beauftragte der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien (Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media), as well as funds from the City of Chemnitz.
