Everyone experiences Chemnitz differently. The city is perceived through people and their daily journeys, through nature and architecture, through memories of other cities or hometowns. These perceptions of the city are brought into a textile form by two women together with people who feel like it: Sabine Hochmuth, who invites her neighbours to join her in her wool garage, and the Finnish artist Kati Hyyppä, who lives in Berlin. Real and imaginary objects and landscapes made of felt and embroidery are created in hands-on workshops that can be attended once or regularly. They are sewn together to form a large carpet that shows a bird's eye view of Chemnitz and reflects the diversity of the (cultural capital) city.

This project is supported by the Finnish Institute Berlin and KONE Garant Aufzug GmbH Chemnitz.
