Fischelant

An interactive art installation on creativity and community spirit in the garage complex

What on earth does »Fischelant« mean? You’ll find out in the garage complex on Theaterstraße. In the German state of Saxony, the word »Fischelant« is used to describe clever and inventive people. The term comes from the French »vigilant« and means »to be observant« or »alert«. The artist Cosima Terrasse first heard the expression while wandering through garage complexes in Chemnitz. She was inspired to create an interactive installation. In it, she addresses the stories of collective efforts in garage construction, hard work, wise ideas, and community spirit, and explores the inventiveness of many garage owners.
