When artistic impulse and spontaneity meet a rational, rigorous research environment, new creative energy emerges. Artists experi ment with mycelia and delicate 3D- printed metal structures and fold DNA using origami techniques. Exhibitions by Klub Solitaer, Kreatives Chemnitz, and Fraunhofer ENAS-Institut in Chemnitz show what contemporary artists, research institutes, and mid-sized businesses develop in tandem. Experimental, playful, and certainly never boring, at FUNKEN Space experts and interested parties converge. Check out FUNKEN Nights, Science Meets Arts, the Funken und Visionen Conference, a collective campus art action with Peter Piek, his summer concert, and FUNKEN Echoes. Installations, performances, and interactive exhibits showcase the outcomes and visions of past projects and residencies as well as pioneering artistic and scientific visions for Chemnitz.
