Stefan Heym was one of the most important writers of the 20th century. Born in Chemnitz, he fled from the Nazis in 1933 and came to the GDR in 1952. In 1994, he became the oldest member of the Bundestag. A weekend was dedicated to his life and work. Those unfamiliar with Heym were able to get to know his writing for the first time during readings on Friday. On Saturday, a dinner was held, serving dishes that Heym himself had enjoyed eating. Companions recounted their experiences with the writer. A matinee with contemporary witnesses on Sunday was dedicated to his books and the question of what we can learn from him and his work for living together in our European society.
