The European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 has gained a new strong partner in Lidl: the retail company is supporting key events of the Capital of Culture year as a Gold Sponsor, thereby strengthening the supra-regional and international visibility of Chemnitz.

"As a local supplier, we have been contributing to the attractiveness and quality of life in the regionfor over 30 years. We are therefore all the more pleased to support the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz. Together we want to promote the creative potential of Chemnitz and strengthen the city as a vibrant cultural centre," explains Friedrich Fuchs, Chairman of the Management Board of Lidl Dienstleistung GmbH & Co.

Sven Schulze, Lord Mayor of the City of Chemnitz, recognises Lidl's commitment to Chemnitz 2025: "I am delighted that Lidl, one of Europe's leading retail companies, is supporting the European Capital of Culture 2025 as a Gold Sponsor. This commitment is a strong signal for the cultural appeal of Chemnitz and shows that we are recognised and appreciated. It is particularly pleasing that Lidl is breaking new ground in its social commitment with this support. Until now, the company was primarily known for its sports sponsorship. The fact that Lidl now also supports culture and is committed to Chemnitz as European Capital of Culture shows what a unifying and identity-forming element culture is. "

For the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH, this cooperation is also a strong signal for the connection between business and culture. Andrea Pier, Commercial Director of the company, emphasises: "We are grateful for Lidl's commitment as a Gold Sponsor of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. It underlines the importance of cooperation between business and culture for the successful and sustainable design of our Capital of Culture year. Together with strong partners like Lidl, we can present Chemnitz and the region in all its diversity and create an unforgettable cultural experience that will have a long-lasting effect. "

As a gold sponsor, Lidl will support two partner projects in particular: the Hutfestival, an international festival for street art, and the sports event Sports United. Dr Ralf Schulze, Managing Director of C³ Chemnitzer Veranstaltungszentren GmbH, emphasises the importance of this partnership: "We are delighted to have Lidl on board as a new partner for two of the most popular events during the Capital of Culture year. Lidl's involvement shows how much attention is focussed on the city of Chemnitz, the European Capital of Culture 2025, and therefore also on individual projects.we are looking forward to the collaboration and the creative ideas for the presentation on site. Here, the guests can be creative and active themselves in a special way - great activities that Lidl is bringing in here, which will enrich and perfectly complement our events."
