Press day for the programme launch

On 25. October 2024 from 11:30 am to 5 pm

The industrial city of Chemnitz in Saxony in Germany has been awarded the title European Capital of Culture 2025 - take a first look at the city, its people and the programme!

This large-scale project, which the people of Chemnitz are currently developing together with great passion and commitment, will surprise guests from all over Germany, Europe and beyond with over 100 projects and more than 1000 events from 18 January 2025.

The slogan ‘C the Unseen’, Chemnitz 2025 invites you to discover the previously unseen. In keeping with the spirit of this project's do-it-yourself approach, three months before the official start of the Capital of Culture year, the Chemnitz ‘makers’ will give a first presentation of planned activities in a ‘workshop atmosphere’.

This much is already certain: guests to the European Capital of Culture can expect a fusion of high culture and a lively independent arts scene, of Art Nouveau and industrial and GDR architecture as well as post-socialist modernism and creative participatory spirit.
