Art in public space

A geometric pattern of interlocking, rounded white shapes fills the image. Two stylized black and white eyes are strategically placed among the shapes, giving the appearance of peering through the design.

The city awakens, all of us with one eye half open, hoping that everything will be just as it always is. You pass the »Nischel« on the bus – is it your imagination, or did the statue’s head turn during the night? So hot already? I need a coffee! The Summer of 2025 will welcome artists from all over Europe in Chemnitz to create chaos and shake things up. We invite these bustling people to comment on their experiences of the city through actions and objects. Installations and colour, light and fake adverts – all to bring joy to the city and get people thinking. Unexpected surprises are their style; low-profile stunts their lifeblood. A signpost in Braille in the middle of a crossroads? Weird. More stuff like this across the city? Who’s behind it all?

When? From January 2025 till December 2025

Where? Urban Space, New Saxon Gallery, Chemnitz
