Museums as makers of democracy

Programme for the annual conference of the German Museums Association

The annual conference of the German Museums Association is Germany’s largest museum conference and will take place in Chemnitz in 2025. It offers expert lectures, opportunities for professional exchange on current museum topics, and networking with museum professionals from Germany and abroad.

As public spaces, museums can strengthen democracy. The conference will examine the responsibility and role of museums as institutions for democracy, defining their tasks, limits, and scope as political actors.
