Planting Festival: Awakening

Spring 2025

The PLANTING FESTIVAL on the subject of »awakening« will open with a singing competition. Taking to the stage under the banner of »Rise like an apple tree. An ESC lookalike«, people from Chemnitz will perform stage adaptions of highlights from the history of the Eurovision Song Contest. This will be followed by planting campaigns extending from the Industriemuseum Chemnitz across the Capital of Culture region. During the Capital of Culture year, there will be monthly kitchen culture workshops, events with helpful tips on how to take care of apple trees, educational programmes and excursions. The Living Neighbourhood project will appear at the KOSMOS Festival in June with »Beating the drum«: Neighbours drum together in a musical installation by Andrew Unruh from the German experimental music band »Einstürzende Neubauten«, drawing attention to what they have in common.
