Gottfried Silbermann (*1683 - †1753) was a maker of his time. Trained in Alsace, after returning to his native Saxony he created organs and keyboard instruments in his Freiberg workshop, the quality of which is still unrivalled today. Creating a sense of identity - also in churches in the Capital of Culture region - they attract people from all over the world. In 2025, the Gottfried Silbermann Society continued to be a mediator of old and new music and historical craftsmanship with its diverse programmes. With concerts in dialogue with the artworks of the PURPLE PATH, the participation of many hundreds of children in the European Organ Cities project "Here we are" and the classical music festival "The Sound of Europe", the Silbermann Days celebrated the unbroken radiance of the old instruments.
