Rebecca Horn: The Universe in a Pearl

Great art in a small church!

Photo: Uwe Gaasch

Created in 2006 by German artist Rebecca Horn (* 1944; † 2024), this sculpture has travelled to churches in many places, including London, Majorca and Hamburg. Tens of thousands went to see it one last time at Berlin’s  wig’s Cathedral before the building was closed for renovation. Now the vertical sculpture is travelling to the converted St George’s Hospital Church in Lößnitz. As if emanating from the centre of the earth, it rises up to the golden blue firmament. When visitors look into the rotating mirrors at the bottom, their gaze falls into the endless depths of a shaft. When they look upwards, they see swirls of light rising up. Come and experience a magnificent work of art!
