As a special architectural highlight, the Red Tower, the oldest building in the city of Chemnitz, was opened to guests and residents in the Capital of Culture year 2025. Visitors were able to experience not only the impressive building, but also the Walk of Fame on the wall to the east of the tower and the accompanying exhibition on the great Chemnitz citizens in the tower, created by the Rotary Club Chemnitz in 2012. There was also an exhibition on the city's history in the tower parlour. Inspired by the Chemnitz Festival of Lights, the tower façade was permanently illuminated and illuminated during the Capital of Culture year. The neighbouring Galerie Roter Turm opened its entrance to the Red Tower.

Since the beginning of 2023, a working group has come together to revitalise the Roter Turm and illuminate a city landmark with LICHT IM TURM + LICHT AM TURM.
