For 30 years now, the SCHLiNGEL International Film Festival has defined the Chemnitz film landscape like no other institution. On screens across the city you can enjoy almost 200 short and feature-length films as well as animations. The best films from a number of countries will be honoured with 18 prizes across six competitions. 2025 will be the 23rd time that the European Children’s Jury, made up of children from around 10 coun- tries, will convene to award the continent’s only European Children’s Film Prize, sponsored by the Saxon State Ministry for Science, Culture and Tourism. There will be talks with filmmakers as well as seminars and discussion panels for trade visitors. Media education workshops for school classes and kindergartens are just as popular as rendezvous with international film stars. The event  brings unique films from as far afield as Turkmenistan and South Korea to local audiences, and represents German children’s films on the international festival circuit.
