International German-language poetry slam championships
I: Ulrike Schell (Bikini Kommando)
For five days, poets from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Italy (South Tyrol) will take to different stages in Chemnitz to present their best texts. Those vying for the prize include seasoned professionals as well as up-and-coming talent, the under-20s and the over-60s, people from different cultural backgrounds and genders, All these people will have worked together in writing workshops before the competition. They will compete in genres such as prose, poetry, spoken word, storytelling and comedy. The poets will often tackle contemporary issues such as care work, impoverishment, rural exodus and discrimination in an amusing way. In the end, the audience gets to decide the best text and the best performance.
