48-hour cookery marathon

Indulgence, community and creative cuisine

The 48-hour cookery marathon transforms the NETZ-Werk Neukirchen into an open gourmet workshop. In the creative rooms of the former car dealership, you will experience chefs preparing contemporary delicacies using local ingredients and traditional recipes.

At the LOOP! knitting festival at the Esche Museum in Limbach-Oberfrohna, textile fans come together for a weekend to celebrate wool, tradition and creative knitting ideas - from socks and scarves to artistically knitted street signs.

At the Toymakers' Festival, craftspeople and designers in Seiffen showcase traditional and modern wooden art - from smokers to music boxes. Visitors can browse, marvel and lend a hand themselves.

The Serious Games Maker Days bring together developers and curious minds to invent games that make knowledge tangible. At the finale, the audience chooses the best ideas at the public slam.

During the MAKER ADVENT, visitors can make many of the handmade items that bring joy to themselves or others in open workshops: Mini candle arches, Christmas tree ornaments, homemade baked goods, Christmas cards and sustainable gift wrapping.

ZEUX

Chemnitz Materials Initiative

[22-27 September]
Wohin mit all dem Zeux (What to do with all this stuff?) This question is the focus of the action week for the sustainable use of materials. Everything revolves around the creative reuse of waste materials from wood, metal, plastic, textiles and technology. Workshops and lectures will give rise to new products and ideas that show how discarded materials can become valuable resources for sustainable design.

MADE IN

Platform for Contemporary Crafts & Design

[23 October–20 December 2025]
The exhibition MADE IN – Platform for Contemporary Crafts & Design at the Siebenschlehener Pochwerk in Schneeberg presents the results of international collaborations between craft, design and research. On display are innovative experiments with materials and techniques that combine tradition and contemporary design and open up perspectives for a sustainable circular economy.
