The beautiful Susanne

A theatrical journey through time in ten visions

Credit: Mathilde Schliebe

In a moment of folly, Susanne becomes pregnant. The father of her unborn child abandons her. Susanne is left wondering, What next? She is fortunate. Klingsor, a mythical creature, appears to her in a dream to help. Thus begins a journey through space and time, countries and cultures. At times they speak Hungarian, at times Romanian, German at times. We learn that Susanne and her ancestors come from the Hungarian-Romanian border region, once populated by a German-speaking minority. What unfolds is a visually stunning spectacle of heart, instinct, and intellect. Who will prevail? Can anyone prevail? And what will become of Susanne and her child?
