How to arrive

By car

Chemnitz can be reached via the A4 motorway (towards Erfurt and Dresden) and the A72 motorway (towards Hof and Leipzig). On site you can use the free Park&Ride facilities of the city of Chemnitz.

By train

Travel by train to Chemnitz main station (Bahnhofstr. 1). From Chemnitz main station you can easily reach the city centre by tram, bus or on foot (15 min).

By long-distance coach

You can reach Chemnitz in just a few hours with direct long-distance bus connections from Berlin, Prague, Munich or Nuremberg with the provider FlixBus.

By airplane

The closest airports to Chemnitz are Leipzig/Halle Airport and Dresden Airport. BER Berlin Airport and Prague Airport are also easily accessible.

Mobility in Chemnitz and the region

The Central Saxony Transport Association (VMS ) allows you to travel to the European Capital of Culture region by bus and regional train. The area includes the cities of Chemnitz and Zwickau, the Erzgebirgskreis and the districts of Mittelsachsen and Zwickau.

Chemnitzer Verkehrs-AG (CVAG) is the mobility service provider of the city of Chemnitz and allows you to explore the city area with numerous bus and tram lines.
