Originally, the Carnival of Cultures established in Berlin was to come to Chemnitz in September during the Capital of Culture year as the "Carnival of Cultures Funken". Organiser Kraftverkehr Chemnitz has since postponed the date for the Carnival of Cultures Funken to 2026. However, Chemnitz 2025's planned contribution to the project, the city picnic Come and eat at my table, will still take place.
The Come and eat at my table city picnic on 27 September on Schloßteichinsel stands for openness and peaceful coexistence, for cultural and culinary diversity. It is a get-together where everyone is welcome. On the Schlossteichinsel, there are delicacies based on family recipes (which can also be copied). Everyone can bring something with them and also discover what delicious things neighbours "conjure up" in pots and bowls.
