On the state mile for the Day of German Unity 2023 in Hamburg

The Day of German Unity 2023 was an opportunity for the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 to present itself outside of Saxony twice. Hamburg organised the big official citizens' festival this year. Chemnitz 2025 was the central theme at the Free State of Saxony's stand on the so-called Ländermeile. Chemnitz postcards, flyers about the Purple Path art and sculpture trail in the cultural region and the world art magazine about the Capital of Culture and the region were gladly taken by many passers-by. There was a great deal of interest and curiosity about what Chemnitz and the region have to offer now and in the title year 2025. Many people have announced their visit to the Capital of Culture. Among others, Hamburg's First Mayor Peter Tschentscher and Saxony's Deputy Prime Minister Martin Dulig visited the Chemnitz 2025 stand.

On the Day of German Unity at the German Embassy in the Czech Republic

The German Embassy in the Czech Republic, together with the Free State of Saxony, hosted a reception on 5 October 2023 to mark German Unity Day. The European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 was also able to present itself to around 700 invited guests.

A Chemnitz garage was set up in the embassy garden and used as a "living room" with a DJ and small bar. This unusual setting was an absolute magnet for the guests, who included Czech President Petr Pavel, Saxony's Minister for European Affairs Katja Meier, the German Ambassador to the Czech Republic Andreas Künne and Chemnitz's Mayor of Culture Dagmar Ruscheinsky.

The European Peace Ride was one of the major cross-border Capital of Culture projects. The organisers of this cross-border cycling event reported on this year's tour. Anyone who wanted to could cycle on site and generate energy with muscle power to run the Chemnitz bicycle cinema. This initiative emerged from a micro-project a few years ago and now invited people to watch films on bikes in Prague. Agnieszka Kubicka-Dzieduszycka and Michal Sandor from the Chemnitz 2025 GmbH programme team gave a bilingual tour of the programme and presented some of the project ideas that were submitted as part of a call for projects between the Czech Republic, Poland and Germany. The European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 and Region project is already radiating far beyond Saxony's borders.
