The Free State of Saxony's stand at the major democracy festival to mark the 75th anniversary of the Basic Law in Berlin was organised by the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. The Chemnitz 2025 team brought a programme to the capital that focused on joint action in an open, tolerant and united society.

Saxony was present with a small garage courtyard on the state mile of the Democracy Festival (Paul-Löbe-Allee, 10557 Berlin). These typical East German communal spaces are at the centre of one of the major projects for the Capital of Culture year. There are around 30,000 garages in Chemnitz, and in 2025 some of them will be used for various artistic formats and the biographies of the garage users will be made visible.

In the Chemnitz Garage Courtyard, there were insights into the various European Capital of Culture projects, hands-on activities such as a constitution domino made by the Holzkombinat hands-on workshop, the construction of wheelchair ramps from Lego bricks and the sewing of collective bags from recycled event banners with the Buntmacher:innen. There was also music from Chemnitz DJs Maik Sparwasser and Kainat, live graffiti painting from the Kotburschi artists' collective and a first look at the video documentation of (k)Einheit.
