Chemnitz is getting a new, creative discovery format: with City Bingo, locals and visitors can explore their surroundings in a playful way. The interactive programme combines movement, curiosity and fun and turns a stroll through the city into a varied experience. It trains the eye for special details and small encounters.
Chemnitz Bingo is available free of charge from 25 February at the Tourist Information Office on the market square and in the Hartmannfabrik. There are game versions in German, English and Czech, which are also available as digital downloads.
Inspired by the Chemnitz association Bordsteinlobby, the game was developed and produced during the Capital of Culture year as part of the Makers, Business & Arts project. "We played different versions of Bingo with delegations from Germany and abroad during the Capital of Culture year. The positive response has encouraged us to make the format available to locals and guests beyond the Capital of Culture year," says Josephine Hage, Project Manager Maker Region at the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH. "With City Bingo, we are inviting people to see Chemnitz with new eyes and rediscover familiar paths - C the Unseen."
The principle of the game is very simple. The bingo invites you to find typical places, special features, sights or small everyday observations. Anyone strolling through the city ticks boxes such as "Urban art", "An aha moment" or "A reflection" as soon as a suitable motif is discovered. This could be a historic building, a favourite place, a hidden detail or a special encounter. The aim is to fill a row, column or diagonal and thus achieve "Bingo".
If you would like to take such a creative tour of the city, you can download the bingo game from chemnitz2025.de and chemnitz-zwickau-region.de or pick up one of the coloured bingo cards at the Chemnitz Tourist Information Office, and on Saturdays also at the Hartmannfabrik.
Marika Fischer, Managing Director of the Chemnitz Zwickau Region Tourist Office, is delighted with this new offer: "With Chemnitz Bingo, we can offer our guests an exciting activity at the tourist information centre to explore the city in a fun way. The discovery tour is an excellent addition to existing tourist tours and guided tours. It is a particularly suitable starting point for families to discover the city from a completely different perspective."
The city bingo is suitable for individuals, families, school classes or groups and can be played both spontaneously and as part of events.
