The Capital of Culture means above all: taking part. This also applies to the more than 2 million guests that the city and cultural region are expecting in 2025. The conference "Tourismus:kreativ - Vom Anschauen zum Mitmachen" is therefore the kick-off event for the topic of creative tourism in Chemnitz and the cultural region.

The conference is aimed at makers who already offer creative workshops or want to develop them, for example in the fields of arts and crafts, visual arts, performing arts, digital technologies or culinary arts.

Partners from tourism associations, marketing organisations and local and regional stakeholders from business, culture, education, regional development, municipalities and the creative scene were invited.

Participants at the conference included the Saxon State Minister for Culture and Tourism, Barbara Klepsch, and Petra Hedorfer from the German National Tourist Board. The conference presented the diversity of creative offerings, networked players from the creative industries, associations, marketing, tourism and local authorities, showed strategies on how creative tourism can sustainably enrich tourism and imparted knowledge on how to develop and communicate creative participatory offerings in a target group-orientated way.
