The European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 has gained a new strong partner in Lidl: the retail company is supporting key events of the Capital of Culture year as a Gold Sponsor, thereby strengthening Chemnitz's national and international visibility.

As part of the Schwarz group of companies based in Neckarsulm, Lidl is now one of the leading food retail companies in Germany and Europe. Lidl currently operates over 12,200 shops in 31 countries worldwide. In Germany, around 100,000 employees in over 3,250 shops ensure customer satisfaction every day. As a sustainable fresh food discounter, Lidl stands for the best quality at the best price as well as for a fast, simple and reliable shopping experience.

For the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH, this cooperation is a strong signal for the connection between business and culture. As a gold sponsor, Lidl will support two partner projects in particular: the Hutfestival, an international festival for street art, and the sports event Sports United.
