The BEGEHUNGEN 22 art festival has been taking place in Chemnitz since 2003 - as the city's largest off-culture event. It is characterised by an unconventional and low-threshold approach to art. For this reason, BEGEHUNGEN 22 is not just a temporary art exhibition, it is also a social meeting place for people from all walks of life. An extensive festival programme consisting of performances, readings and concerts is also an essential component.

The tradition of the annually changing location is important and in keeping with the festival name. The festival has already been held in a wide variety of locations in Chemnitz, most recently last year in the Altendorf goods station. However, the 19th edition will no longer take place in the city of Chemnitz, but in the cultural region. The festival venue will be the Erzgebirgsbad in Thalheim/Erzgebirge, which has been unused since 2014.

The festival is a barrier-free festival with an extensive programme. Admission to all programme items and the exhibition is free. The exhibition is open on the weekends from 12 to 14 August and 19 to 21 August from 10 am to 8 pm.

As part of the opening of the PURPLE PATH, the art trail of sculptures and interventions by international and local artists, two events will take place in Thalheim/Erzgebirge, to which we cordially invite you!
