The NETZ-Werk
Following the conversion of the former car dealership, an open kitchen covering 220m² now stands at the centre of the NETZ-Werk. Three cooking areas with modern equipment offer space for 30 to 40 people. The adjoining seating area can accommodate 80 people and invites them to exchange ideas, work together and enjoy a cosy get-together. The concept is rounded off with a 400 m² event area that offers plenty of space for cultural events or other formats.
Visitors to Chemnitz 2025 can look forward to the 48-hour cooking marathon from 15 to 17 August 2025, during which the region's mountain cuisine will be reinterpreted by European chefs.
Makerhubs
With its unusual concept for a culinary meeting place, the NETZ-Werk is one of nine maker hubs of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. In the open workshops in the Stadtwirtschaft Chemnitz and at eight locations in the Capital of Culture region, people can learn from each other and create something new together. In terms of content, the locations have different focuses. The NETZ-Werk was selected as a location in 2022 following an expert jury process.
The Makerhubs are an initiative of Makers, Business & Arts, a main project of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH, in cooperation with the Landesverband der Kultur und Kreativwirtschaft Sachsen e.V. (State Association of Culture and Creative Industries Saxony).
