Who knows this in Berlin and elsewhere: many products from Chemnitz and the region have conquered the world from here: for example, the staple strip, also known as the "Aktendulli", the diamond bicycle frame, the arse leather from mining or the harmonica instrument bandoneon, which came to Argentina with German emigrants at the beginning of the last century and has since made up the world-famous sound of the Argentine tango.

chemnitz and the region will be European Capital of Culture in 2025 - one aim is to show Europe and the world what pioneering innovations are being created here today, such as the Rowac stool, which was also taken to Berlin. The programme ideas for the European Capital of Culture year and how they can be derived from old and new inventions from the region were presented by Mayor Ralph Burghart and the team of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 GmbH for the first time on a large federal political stage.

Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer, Chemnitz Mayor Ralph Burghart and the authorised representative of the Free State of Saxony to the federal government, State Secretary Conrad Clemens, had invited almost 200 guests to the evening at the Saxon State Representation in Berlin. The two managing directors of Kulturhauptstadt GmbH, Stefan Schmidtke and Andrea Pier, moderated the entertaining and informative evening, which ended with many conversations over Chemnitz culture beer.

Before the presentation in the Saxon state representation, Ralph Burghart, Andrea Pier, Frederic Bussmann, Bernd Birkigt and Julia Voigt were invited to the Bundestag's Culture Committee to report on the status of preparations for the Capital of Culture year.
