PURPLE PATH: Hoheneck women speak

On 30 November 2022, two women who were once imprisoned took centre stage at the "Hoheneck women speak" discussion evening. An interview with the religious educator Eva-Maria Cramer was read by Julia Buch and the artist Gabriele Stötzer spoke with Holger Bartsch and Alexander Ochs about their time in the Hoheneck women's prison. The conversation with them touched on questions about the effects that the systematic decomposition of people has on an entire society.

The biographies of the prisoners formed the basis for the discussion and revealed a variety of methods of intimidation and different experiences of violence.

The short film "Kaputt - Hoheneck" by Alexander Lahl and Volker Schlecht from 2016 was also shown.

The former Hoheneck women's prison is located on the PURPLE PATH, which connects Chemnitz and the region with art interventions and installations. The discussion evening was an event organised by the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 GmbH and the Churches in the Capital of Culture Region office in cooperation with the Forum for Politically Persecuted and Imprisoned Women of the Soviet Occupation Zone/SED Dictatorship e.V.
