The ECoC Expert Panel today published its report on the first monitoring of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025.

The Chemnitz 2025 team is delighted with the panel's report, which praises the team's "high level of professionalism with regard to planning" during the preparations and the "solid progress" made over the past 11 months.

The team had submitted the first monitoring report in September, outlining the current status of work. In addition to this written part, a 30-minute video also provided insights into the work of the past year. Representatives of our team then answered questions from the jury in a digital meeting on 28 September. The aim was to clarify aspects and questions that had arisen from the report and video or were related to the recommendations made by the jury in the selection report of October 2020.

The team is now looking forward to continuing to build and expand relationships with Eastern and Western European partners, producers and artists in the coming months and to continuing to work intensively on particularly broad public participation and the early involvement of artists, institutions and associations from Chemnitz and the region.

By winning the title of European Capital of Culture 2025, Chemnitz has entered the so-called monitoring phase. This means that the European expert jury will work with us over the next few years to ensure the quality of the project. The second monitoring is planned for mid-2023. In autumn 2024, there will be a final monitoring before the title year.
