European Capital of Culture 2025 - that is Chemnitz together with 38 municipalities from the region.

The Purple Path art and sculpture trail is being created there. It is one of the main projects within the Capital of Culture programme. The regional management of the Chemnitz cultural region, which is based in the city of Oelsnitz, is being supported by the Saxon state government this year with up to around 398,000 euros to embed the art and sculpture trail into the local cultural landscape with various events. The "Weitergehen am Purple Path" project will enable numerous events "on the Purple Path", which will draw even more attention to the cultural region and thus further connect the surrounding communities with Chemnitz.
