Supervisory Board members elected for future European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 GmbH

At its meeting on 5 May 2021, Chemnitz City Council elected the members of the Supervisory Board of the future GmbH for the organisation and implementation of the European Capital of Culture 2025. The Supervisory Board consists of representatives from the federal government, the Free State of Saxony, the City of Chemnitz, the region and the business community.

The members of the Supervisory Board are

  • Lord Mayor Sven Schulze
  • As representative of the Federal Government: Ministerial Director Dr Jan Ole Püschel, Head of Group K 3: Media and Film; International Affairs of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM)
  • Representing the Free State of Saxony: Ministerial Director Sebastian Hecht, Head of the Culture and Tourism Division at the Saxon State Ministry for Science, Culture and Tourism
  • As representative of the Chemnitz City Council: Almut Patt, CDU
  • As representative for cross-border projects: Arnošt MARKS, Ph.D., MSc., Vice Dean for Creative, International and Innovative Activities and Director of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies, Art and High Technology at the University of West Bohemia, Plzen
  • As a representative with Capital of Culture experience: Mikko Fritze, Director of the Finnish Institute for German-speaking Countries in Berlin.
  • As a representative of the regional economy: Dr Micaela Schönherr, CFO at Prefere Resins in Berlin
  • Representing the region: Bernd Birkigt, Mayor of the town of Oelsnitz/Erzgeb.
  • Representing the city of Chemnitz: Nancy Gibson, Director of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School
