The European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 GmbH mourns the death of Egmont Elschner

The colleagues of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 GmbH mourn the loss of Egmont Elschner. The Chairman of the Freundeskreis Chemnitz 2025 e.V. passed away unexpectedly on 7 October.

Tireless and combative for art and culture, that's how we knew him in Chemnitz and that's how many knew Egmont Elschner throughout Germany. The fact that Chemnitz holds the title of European Capital of Culture 2025 is also largely thanks to him. His tireless commitment to the Chemnitz 2025 Circle of Friends will be missed. A sustainably successful title year for Chemnitz and the region is also his legacy. The European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 GmbH will do everything in its power to continue realising the major European Capital of Culture 2025 project in his spirit.
