More than 1,000 volunteers are involved in the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, making a valuable contribution to the success of this unique project.
Dr Christiane Schenderlein, Minister of State for Sport and Volunteering, also paid tribute to this commitment during her visit today to the Begehungen Festival and the Hartmannfabrik, the Chemnitz 2025 visitor and information centre. With their voluntary commitment, they are actively helping to shape the European Capital of Culture year - help is needed in many different areas: at events, in organisational matters, at information stands, in looking after guests or in logistics. Our own projects, such as a freewalking tour, the many reports from the volunteer editorial team and cross-generational friendships show that the volunteer programme brings people together and creates new connections in Chemnitz and the Capital of Culture region.
Volunteering is a unique opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the European Capital of Culture and to welcome visitors from all over Europe. Our volunteers get a lot of positive feedback from the Capital of Culture guests. Recognition and appreciation are particularly important for people who get involved in voluntary work, confirmed the Minister of State in conversation with the Chemnitz 2025 volunteers.
