Over the past few weeks, we have been calling on you to vote for your favourite projects. Thank you for your participation!

The "Take a seat!" project, which we launched in 2019 as part of the Capital of Culture, is finally continuing. In two previous rounds, we have already been able to support a large number of projects that make our city a lot more colourful: from the bicycle service station in Konkordiapark, the flower clock on Sonnenberg to the colourful staircase next to the Technical Town Hall.

In April, we therefore once again called on you to submit your ideas for new favourite places in Chemnitz that create community and turn small squares, vacant lots or brownfield sites into new meeting places.

The implementation of the projects should bring together as many people as possible who are committed to creating a beautiful new place in the heart of the district: for urban gardening, playing sports, playing, barbecuing, relaxing, meeting friends, tobogganing, splashing around, enjoying art, listening to music, going to the theatre, drinking coffee, learning, building bikes..

The "Take a seat!" team received a total of 19 project proposals, and after a review by the city administration, 15 projects made it into the vote.

At the end of June, we asked you to vote for your favourite ideas in our online poll. Thank you very much for your participation, we were able to count a total of 4910 votes cast!

The six ideas with the most votes will now be realised by the citizens with the support of the city administration. A budget of 2025 euros is available per square, a sum that makes personal initiative both possible and necessary. The aim is to realise community projects that unite many talents.

We were once again able to win KLUB2025 as a partner, which will support two of six "Take a seat!" projects.

The following projects received the most votes:

Source of culture in Grüna

From Easter fountains to harvest crowns - the bubbling stone on Grüna's Hexenberg will be decorated in the future.

Making music and lingering in the inner courtyard of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School

The inner courtyard of the music school will not only be transformed into an outdoor concert venue, but will also become a new play area with play elements for the children of the music school and the neighbourhood.

Attention construction site! A quiet zone is being created here in the centre of Gablenz!

A new quiet zone is soon to be created in front of Gablenz primary school. With seating platforms and a book exchange cabinet as well as a raised bed and bee hive, there will be plenty to discover.

Wanderplatz - mobile open space furniture for Chemnitz

Why always upgrade just one space when you can beautify several spaces at once? Robust, original, multifunctional open space furniture will soon enhance the station forecourt and then move on to other squares in the city.

Culture in nature. A new rest area in the south-east of Chemnitz

A new rest area between Kleinolbersdorf and Altenhain will invite people to take a seat and pause for a moment. Picture window frames will also invite visitors to take a look at nature and the surrounding sights.

Chemnitz Basketball - Trash Cans

More fun with waste separation? Small basketball hoops on public rubbish bins are not only intended to increase the desire to recycle, but also to express our city's love of basketball.
